As soon as Lockdown started, I waited to see the amazing photographs of deserted cities, but despite the fact that many European cities were not completely devoid of people, I did not really find them.
There was one amazing set of pictures by Mark Seliger of the streets of New York, but otherwise nothing that I could find that really gave that eerie feeling of emptiness that I was sure was out there.
As soon as the rules started to allow more exercise and travel, I decided to give it a go.
At the same time, I was determined to be careful and to follow the rules about exercise, social distance and transport, so I drove to Tower Bridge, parked my car and walked in avoiding any groups of people I saw.
The first thing that struck was that there were people around everywhere even if far more scarce than normal.
I quickly determined that I would not photoshop anyone out but use a wide-angle lens to emphasise the space and comparative emptiness. In almost every shot here, there is at least one person.
My route took me along the Thames path towards a number of bridges which I crisscrossed ending in Trafalgar Square and Somerset House- the latter was a highpoint as there was absolutely no-one else there.
